What's New For The Sprinter?
Mercedes-Benz is shaking things up with its engine lineup. The first change sees three inline-four engines being made available. The 188-hp V-6 is discontinued, and in its place are 168- and 208-hp turbodiesel engines and a 188-hp gas engine. These new engines are attached to a new nine-speed automatic transmission, replacing the old seven-speed unit. There's also a revised 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, and power distribution is changed to a 50-50 split between front and rear axles instead of the 35-65 split in last year's Sprinter.
Performance
All Sprinter models are powered by one of three engine choices. The standard powertrain is a 188-hp turbocharged four-cylinder with 258 pounds of torque. While the other options consist of a 170-hp turbodiesel four-cylinder with 295 pounds of torque and a higher-output 211-hp twin-turbo diesel with 332 pounds of torque.
With the diesel engine equipped, the Sprinter’s maximum towing capacity is an impressive 7,500 pounds, while the cargo van model can haul up to 6,812 pounds of payload. The gasoline engine’s maximum towing capacity is 5,000 pounds, and the max payload capacity is 4,453 pounds.
Technology
The Sprinter is a standout van amongst its competitors. There’s more interior refinement as a leather-covered steering wheel and a large 10.3-inch infotainment touchscreen are available. Though the more advanced tech is available as extra-cost options.
Standard features include a basic AM/FM radio with an LCD screen, Bluetooth, and a single USB-C port. In the optional Premium package, a 7.0-inch touchscreen becomes available, while the Premium Plus package includes a 10.3-inch screen, a navigation system, and a wireless phone-charging pad. Both option packages include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot.
Safety
Mercedes provides the Sprinter with a list of driver-assistance technology to help keep drivers and passengers safe. Standard features include forward collision mitigation and crosswind assist. While optional features include adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-keeping assist.

The 2023 model year marks the last time the Metris will be available in the United States. As such, no changes have been made to this year's model.
Performance
All Metris vans are powered by a turbocharged 208 horsepower four-cylinder engine. This engine produces 258 pounds of torque and is attached to a nine-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels. As mentioned, the Metris is also a competent hauler, as this model can tow up to 5000 pounds. As for its fuel economy, cargo van variants are rated at up to 19/23 mpg, while the passenger van version is rated at 18/22 mpg.
Technology
As a passenger van, the Metris can seat up to eight people. Though if a Tucker local we’re to remove the second and third row, the Metris can be reconfigured into a competent cargo van. Regardless of how you configure this van, the Mercedes-Benz Metris will come well-equipped. A seven-inch touchscreen is now standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
